Verification is the foundation of journalism. At Granada Noticias, no information is published without having been checked. This page explains the criteria and processes we follow.
Verification standards
Before publishing any factual information, the Granada Noticias editorial team applies the following criteria:
— Source cross-checking. Every relevant claim must be supported by at least two independent sources, or by official documentation that substantiates it.
— Right of reply. When information affects the reputation or interests of a person, institution, or organization, Granada Noticias contacts the affected party to ask for their version before publishing. If there is no response within the established timeframe, this is noted in the article.
— Original documentation. Whenever possible, Granada Noticias publishes or references the original documents on which a piece of information is based: resolutions, minutes, contracts, official reports. Citizens should be able to access primary sources.
Institutional and official information
When information comes from institutional sources (city council, regional government, public bodies), Granada Noticias publishes it clearly identifying the source, but does not waive its right to verify it, provide context, or challenge it if there are elements that justify doing so.
Errors and corrections
If, despite the verification processes, incorrect information is published, Granada Noticias corrects it transparently following its Corrections policy.
